A Neufeld informed approach

After graduating from my Master of Educational and Developmental Psychology, I spent several years working in disability support services, with neurodivergent children and adults. I spent this time trying to make sense of the people I was working with, and to offer families and residential support workers insight and practices that would nurture closeness and connection and, ultimately, joy. It was this vision that led me to the work of Dr Gordon Neufeld and my approach is strongly influenced by his research on the roles of attachment and play in the unfolding of human potential.

I have studied and am continuing to deepen my understanding of children’s development. I love sharing this understanding with parents and helping them create the conditions for their children to flourish.

I have completed the following courses with the Neufeld Institute:

  • Intensive 1 – Making Sense of Kids
  • Intensive 2 – The Separation Complex
  • Making Sense of Hypersensitivity
  • The Science of Emotion
  • Play and Emotion

I am also part of the Neufeld Aotearoa support team.

Increasingly, I am being contacted by parents who might be looking for an alternative approach to the current behavioural or medical paradigms. After working with me, you can expect to have more insight into your child’s behaviour and the need that’s driving it. You’ll be invited to try practices that can help you feel more connected to your child, enjoy them more, and soften some of the behaviours that feel hard to manage.

Whilst I offer child, parent-child, and parent sessions, I work very closely with parents. My intention is to support and empower you to create the conditions for your child to grow emotionally mature, and to live with vitality and joy.

“Always put the relationship first and be creative with everything else.” Dr. Gordon Neufeld
